Scout and About, late June and early July

Despite the foul June weather, Miss Scout has continued her intrepid roaming:

The art of hiding behind kale

Ahh, donuts...

... and bagels. If its a round complex carb with a hole in it, she's there.

Hanging with her role model, the leaning apple who does not fall far from the tree.

Tubes: good for sliding...

... and wearing.

A preview of Lily and Scout as cantankerous nursing home residents some 80 years hence.

Next year, Scout.

Pancakes- the only way to start a Fourth of July.

Bring on the parade!

OK, enough parade already.

Much better to play grab the critter with Lelly.

Father's day eve- lets play in the rain while mummy runs a race!

Dearest darling wife is doing awesomely as a runner- completing her second 5K in about a month in a faster time over a harder course. While waiting on our very own Mary Decker-Slaney, Team Country Mouse bided our time on a wet and slightly terrifying playset near the finish line:

This playset won't sail itself.

Hey dad! want me to jump down this huge drop with no railing just in front of me, out of shot, while you scramble to put the camera away? No?

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

The flying JDog

Even faster...

Two Fabulous Two

Happy Birthday Dear Scout, Happy Birthday To You!
When you're a two year old you get to do cool things like eat cake (and go berserk afterward. Sugar rush!)

Yeah for presents. Thank You!!!
She especially liked opening the cards. Oh how that will change going forward.

On Sunday, with Dan busy at the home and design show, Scout and I went to the beach. When we decided to go it was a beautiful sunny day. By the time we were loaded up and ready the sky had darkened and threatend rain. We were inspired by Leaning Apple and went anyway. We have rain coats so let's use them. So glad we went for it was a fun way to kick off Scout's birthday extravaganza.
The "wadda"

This is how a two year old digs!

Mother's Day and Grandad Roy's Visit

We have been bustling around the past few weeks visiting family, celebrating Moms, and generally making the most of the spring weather we've waited so long for.

Mimi V and Scout walk the path at Fort Knox on a blustery Mother's Day. But hey, Moms are nothing if not hearty - what's a "little" cold wind?

Scout and Daddy take in the view atop the Penobscot Bridge Observatory.

The little old bridge.

As mentioned before it was quite windy. These wall huggers try and adjust to the sounds of a gale rattling around 400 feet up.

Rt 1 north.

That is quite the hairdo.

Grandad Roy succumbs to the pose all visitors eventually do.

We can mark the passage of time in lobsters we've eaten and photos we've posed for in the Shaw's Wharf lobster and clam.

Fort William Henry.

So glad she brought a jacket! (Note: the chilly naked arms in the background. Additional note: Dan visited TWO forts in less then a week. He is a lucky man.)

Baby Jeckyll and Toddler Hyde

Don't be fooled by her ladylike poise:

Just add gelato and stand back:
